Summer is nearly here—and while the sun may be a great way to enjoy the outdoors, it isn’t the best for your skin. At Skingevity, we think the first step to great skin care is prevention, so what can you do to make sure you are taking care of the skin you’re in?
Today we’re giving you our top tips to protect yourself this summer, so you can still enjoy the sun without putting your skin at risk.
It’s no secret that wearing sunscreen is a vital part of a healthy skincare routine. Still, many have misconceptions when it comes to choosing sunscreen or skip this step altogether.
While you may think skipping the sunscreen will give your skin a sunkissed bronze or a long-awaited summer tan, you are actually setting yourself up for a host of other avoidable skincare problems like sunspots, hyper-pigmentation, dryness, and most notably, increased risk of sun cancer.
Invest in your skin health and apply a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every few hours and stick to shaded areas when possible. If you’re really after a tan, consider self-tanning or a spray tan(your skin will thank you later).
The summer heat can be extremely drying, and the effects of this can take a toll on your smile. Dry, cracked lips can be painful and are not exactly part of anyone’s summer-ready look.
Your lips are just as vulnerable to the sun as the rest of your skin, so during the summer choose lip products that contain SPF and are moisturizing to keep your pout soft, hydrated, and smooth.
The summer months bring heat, and with that comes sweat. Extra sweat can mean clogged pores, acne, and breakouts. To combat this, we recommend lightening up on heavy products like thick moisturizers that can worsen oily skin.
Other ways to keep your skin clear include wearing breathable fabrics, like cotton, and showering after sweaty activities like working out or sitting in the sun.
Beautiful skin is always in—so start your summer right with a great skincare routine.
